TRIBUTES
Words of love
We honor the life and impact of our rare jewel; a bright light; one of one.
Hauwa Ibrahim Kuchi
I fondly called her my Oyinbo , because she carried herself with such grace, warmth, and light. Victoria was more than a colleague to me; she was a mentor, a confidante, and a true sister. She had a way of knowing when I needed help, and even in her own trying times, she came through for me with selflessness and strength.
With deepest love and gratitude, I write to honor the life of my dear sister and friend, Barrister (Mrs) Victoria Christopher Umoren.
I remember vividly how she guided me with patience when I was new at the Ministry of Justice, opening doors and encouraging me to shine. Her kindness was steady, her love unconditional, and her smile — radiant and unforgettable. Those moments of laughter, prayer, and companionship remain treasures in my heart.
Though I cannot be physically present at her burial in New York, I carry her spirit with me. I choose to remember her as she was before illness, vibrant and full of life, because that is the Victoria who lives on in me.
Her passing leaves a deep emptiness, but I take comfort in knowing that her legacy of excellence, compassion, and faith will continue to inspire all of us. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace, and may the Almighty God comfort and preserve her beloved children, family, and all of us who were blessed to know her.
To Teresa, Immanuel, Christopher, and Anthony :
Your mother loved you with a devotion that was unmatched. She spoke of you often, with pride and joy shining in her eyes. I pray that you will always feel her presence in your hearts, guiding you, strengthening you, and reminding you of the extraordinary woman who raised you. May God’s protection and preservation be sure over each of you, and may her light continue to shine through your lives.
With love and prayers,
Hauwa

I remember the sweet moments we shared together as family friends and professional colleagues of the Federal Ministry of Justice. She was always so caring, kind, diligent, humorous and pleasant to be with.
